Are you looking for a venue with a historical background for your wedding ceremony? Preferably a wedding ceremony in a castle or ruins? Then the Falkenstein ruins in Switzerland might be the perfect place for your free wedding ceremony. Or are you planning a special photo shoot like our fashion style shooting?
Then you’ve come to the right place, in this blog post we would like to give you a few impressions of the wonderful fashion style shoot, go into small details about what needs to be considered for an outdoor fashion style shoot and give you little tips and tricks from the wedding planner.
At least once a year, we plan a wedding photo shoot with our great team and various professional service providers. The aim is to create a look and style that gives inspiration and shows what the participants can achieve. And how you can perhaps design your future wedding.
A style shoot is the easiest way for wedding planners, photographers, florists, cake designers, make-up artists and all other service providers to expand their portfolio and work even more creatively. This way, you can design your gallery according to your wishes right from the start in order to appeal to your desired customers in the future.
In our case, it is about inspiring bridal couples and showing them what is modern and what possibilities there are for designing the wedding. In a style shoot, various service providers work together without payment. At the end of the project, everyone receives wonderful photos for self-promotion and is linked or mentioned by the others. So it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.
The first steps
The first step in such a photo shoot is to visualize the shoot. What style do we want to embody in the end and what pictures do we want to show – we record this using a visual mood board (we also use this procedure for all our bridal couples who decide on a wedding design). You can read more about this in our blog post.
Search for service providers
All the necessary service providers are then requested. For this photo shoot, we had models, a photographer, a videographer, florists, a cake designer, a bridal fashion store, a graphic designer, two jewelry designers and, of course, us from the planning and design team. For larger photo shoots, there are usually other service providers involved, such as locations, rental furniture, musicians, wedding speakers and men’s suits.
A style shoot is not just a small photo session, it requires a lot of time and organizational talent, not to mention stamina. Good communication is very important throughout the entire project. Depending on the weather, it also takes a lot of motivation and service managers who are passionate about the project and their work. We were also able to experience and implement this during this shoot. Ultimately, a style shoot is very comparable to a real wedding in terms of the effort involved.
There was a small challenge for this photo shoot, as we had no options for a bad weather variant. However, we were aware of this fact, so all service providers were informed well in advance. In the event of really bad weather, the entire shoot will be postponed, but in some cases it may have to be canceled completely. So if you want to be on the safe side, make sure that there is a bad weather option or keep a large part covered.
We were very lucky with the weather and were able to carry out the shoot super quickly with short interruptions, rain jackets and plenty of umbrellas and helping hands. We were still all a little cold, but it was definitely worth it for these beautiful pictures and video recordings.
The process
The next point is an organized process, or a contact person who takes the lead on site, or rather keeps an overview of the whole process. So that everyone knows when which part has to be photographed. If this is not the case, the service providers will be standing on each other’s feet and certain details that were planned may be forgotten or the shoot may drag on indefinitely. As with “real weddings”, we create a small script for this, with time slots, important information and when which part of the relevant service providers will take place, be set up and dismantled.
We often have a brief consultation with all service providers before the shoot about what is particularly important to them, which shots they would like for their repertoire and discuss all the details with the photographer/videographer about lighting conditions and background. After all, they are the experts in this field.
Set up all the photo spots
It is important to plan enough time or to have many helping hands on site, which you can delegate back and forth for the set-up. It is easy to underestimate how long it can take to set up a table setting, a wedding arch or all the details, for example. That’s why you should think carefully in advance about what you want to have photographed. For example, we had an extreme distance between the car and the individual photo spots at the venue, with countless steps in between. So we spent a lot of time carrying all the materials back and forth. At our last style shoot, we were lucky enough to have access to a car goods lift, which is of course an advantage for a large shoot, but unfortunately less available.
Marketing
We created a group chat on WhatsApp in advance. All important questions and requests can be clarified there before the shoot and “behind the scenes” photos, Instagram accounts and other information can be sent after the shoot. A nice side effect of such style shoots is also the exchange between often new service providers, who can also generate one more customer in the future by recommending each other. However, it is also important that you can market yourself and your partners online with such a shoot.
We definitely had a great shoot this time too, the end result speaks for itself and we are proud to present a post on the “White Wedding” blog.
It was a great pleasure to work with such a great team, because everyone is important on a shoot like this! And we are already looking forward to the next style shoot.
So if you have any requests or a great new, unusual shooting idea, please feel free to get in touch with us. We are open to all suggestions and look forward to showing you new inspirations again soon. You can read more about our shoot here.
