Nice or bad weather variant at the wedding

In today’s blog we would like to talk about the nice or bad weather variant at the wedding and until when you should decide for the respective variant.

For a long time Alessandra & Yves were looking forward to their special big day. There was a lot of time, loving planning as well as wishes and ideas in their wedding day. Especially our beautiful bride Alessandra dreamed of her fairy tale wedding from a very young age and wanted a cozy BBQ-style celebration in a beautiful castle garden under big trees, with lots of fairy lights and 100s of candles. On a beautiful warm summer night under a clear starry sky.

Like so many of us brides and grooms, they want to get married in the summertime because the likelihood of nice weather is just a bit greater than in the spring or fall. And most bridal couples want a free ceremony outside in the green with sunshine. As well as Alessandra & Yves. They chose the beautiful wedding venue of Hünigen Castle.

Always important to note, no matter what time of year you want to get married, is to choose a venue that offers the possibility for a bad weather variant. Because the guarantee – even if you wish it so much – for good weather we will unfortunately not be able to influence. That’s why we recommend all future bridal couples, just as we have recommended to all previous bridal couples, to always have a backup plan.

For this beautiful wedding, we had to wait until very shortly before the start, until we knew which variant will be implemented. How much before you should decide for a variant and why it is sometimes better to decide for plan B, we would like to bring you here a little closer. Rain and clouds had been announced the whole week before. Therefore, a little sadness came over the bride and groom and they knew that they had to be prepared for the bad weather variant. On the day itself, however, it was dry at first, which is why they decided to risk it and get married outside, despite fresh temperatures.

With us as a team on site on the wedding day, they had support and we constantly checked all our most reliable weather apps and prepared everything so that the wedding ceremony could take place outside. However, we didn’t have a good feeling about it, because right at the start of the free wedding ceremony we were told that a cloud, although quite small, would be directly over the location of the wedding venue. So suddenly there was a rain cloud, exactly for 30 minutes above us. Now we were all a little struggling with the decision: it would have been beautiful outside, under the tree avenue, to give the yes-word, no question. However, it was very cool, it was dripping from the trees, the guests all came dressed beautifully loose and light, and the musicians were a bit worried about the powered instruments.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t too much time left to make a binding decision and we consulted with the bride and groom once again. We advised them to go for the bad weather option. They would be doing themselves and their guests a favor. Because there is nothing worse than suddenly having to cancel the wedding ceremony because of rain and having to move it inside, no matter how spontaneous the bride and groom are. If it unexpectedly, suddenly starts to rain out of the blue, this may still have its charm, but it was as good as pre-programmed. And the bad weather variant in this case, fortunately, just as simply beautiful.

Finally, it is important that the final decision always lies with the bride and groom and we do everything possible in our power to make it the most beautiful day in their lives. However, from our point of view it is very important to make a decision at a certain time so that the whole wedding setting can be prepared, the place for the aperitif as well as the banquet can be set and finally to be ready in time when all the guests arrive. Normally, this decision is made quite early in the morning, so that the bride and groom as well as the guests can prepare themselves for the situation. However, when the situation is so unclear, we also try to delay the decision as long as possible in order to make the right decision with the bride and groom.

The two have decided, now it was time for us and all other service providers to step on the gas. We conjured up a romantic ambience in this festive room with the beautiful flowers and lots of candles. The bride and groom could now relax and enjoy the last few minutes before the wedding ceremony for themselves.

In hindsight, we can say we all chose the right option. Exactly at just before 3pm, a few minutes before the wedding ceremony, it really started to rain and it was perfect that we chose the indoor option. It was very romantic with live music, candlelight, in this beautiful hall and outside the somewhat rainy calm and magical atmosphere.

In the rain outside under the trees could finally still be danced and beautiful pictures were taken. The guests were relaxed, in the dry warm room and the celebration could really get going.

Also the aperitif and part of the BBQ could take place outside despite the bad weather. The mood was beautiful, bride and groom and guests relaxed and happy and that’s how the wedding celebration should feel, no matter if the sun is shining or it’s raining, it’s all about love and the people with whom you spend your wonderful celebration.

And with some advice from a wedding planner, you can sit back, relax and enjoy your celebration. Do you still need support in planning your wedding? Then contact us for a free initial consultation.
