This wonderful bride and groom chose their own wedding style. Boho, baby’s breath, dried flowers and eucalyptus were not at all what they had in mind. They wanted to immerse themselves in a different world and transport their guests to 1920. Therefore, as part of the Great Gatsby-themed wedding, they created a slightly different invitation: 1920 Welcome to the roaring twenties.
For us, too, this was a Wedding Design concept of a different and courageous kind, which we were very excited about. From the beginning, it was clear in which time or rather in which decade we move. Nevertheless, the style direction is not clear. Many associates the period with Gatsby, the Peaky Blinders, or the post-war era. Although everything happened in the same decade, the situations and developments were different in each country. Gatsby belonged more to the time of “The roaring twenties”, where glamour, glitz, and luxury found its place. The Birmingham gang cultivated their own style in terms of fashion but were more in the mafia as well as smuggling scene, where dark colors and vintage style were predominant. The nature of the styles could not be more different. When planning a design concept, the main thing is to pick up the exact wishes of the bride and groom and combine different ideas and styles. It is necessary to find out what exactly is desired and then implement it.
For our bride and groom, it was clear that they would like to dive into the time of Gatsby as well as the Roaring Twenties. During this time, many events, concerts, and cinemas were attended. The economy was booming and so people also felt like celebrating. And that’s exactly how our bride and groom wanted to celebrate.
When we create a design concept, we start with a mood board. We gather all the input and record the direction we want the decor to take, and what colors, elements, or flowers we want to use for the wedding. This is to give the bride and groom a first insight into the planned concept. In a second meeting, we clarify the details and determine which elements we would like to keep and which, if necessary, will be omitted or added.
For this Roaring Twenties wedding, we decided together with the bride and groom for the colors gold, white, and black. Flowers were explicitly not requested. We used elements such as feathers, candles, and candlesticks as well as pearls and diamonds to conjure up the ambience in the yet very simple room. In the end, we were able to use the entire room and transform it in such a way that the 20s found its place and a correspondingly great ambiance settled in.
To let the golden age blossom again, it was especially important to pay attention to small details. Therefore, glasses and cutlery, which were selected, were also adapted to the theme. The glasses were decorated with beautiful patterns, champagne glasses with the look of the 20s procured and golden cutlery served. At the request of the bride and groom, the Birmingham scene was also integrated. A whiskey and cigar corner was created, which combined the two styles of countries and time. With a theme party, it is especially important that a common thread runs through the concept. The room should appear in one unit and everything should be adapted to the motto, as well as possible. It is self-explanatory that the bridal couple also appeared at the wedding in 20s attire accordingly.
For us, it was a special start to the Wedding Season 2022. We started with something brave, where the planning was a lot of fun and it was nice to see afterward how everything fit together.
