There are more and more possibilities and ideas on how to create your own wedding ceremony. The wishes of the bridal couple are almost unlimited. Nevertheless, certain traditions become accepted in Switzerland.
In most cases, the bridal couple have their civil ceremony firstly, because only this kind of marriage is connected to civil law. Already about one-third of the wedding couples renounce a second ceremony in the form of a free or church wedding ceremony. At the present time, only about a quarter of the 41,000 annual celebrations in Switzerland are conducted religiously. A recognizable reason for this is the diminishing connection between the people and the churches, as well as the narrow guidelines on how and where a religious celebration is organized. Nowadays many weddings are celebrated in a free ceremony.
Wedding ceremony with a Zen monk
The fact that there are very exciting and loving alternatives is obvious. So I had a wonderful meeting with Zen Mönch Marcel Reding from Einsiedeln last week. After ten years of continuous reexamination in Japanese and Korean Zen monasteries, he founded the Insopor Zen Academy in 2014. Today, he also performs baptisms, confirmations, divorces, or funerals alongside marriage ceremonies. And not only that, in his temple the life and dying can be examined in the meditation at any time.
The beautiful thing about his ceremonies is that no obligatory and prescribed rituals have to be performed, but the wedding ceremony is performed according to the wishes of the bride and groom. A marriage ceremony with Zen monk Marcel Reding has almost no limits. There are no restrictions on the place, the time or the sexes – it only needs to be find out what it means to share a harmony, respect, pure and relaxed life.
Investment in a good cause
In preparation for a wedding ceremony, Zen Monk Marcel Reding recommends the bridal couple to spend a weekend in the temple and meditate there. The couple always appreciate it in the rather tense time before the wedding, a weekend completely off and only to be there for itself. And the Zen monk offers the possibility to prepare and shape a personal and appropriate wedding ceremony.
The wedding ceremony is financed with a donation from the bride and groom, which is used directly for the Zen house.
So why not marry with a Zen monk according to your own wishes? I would be happy to advise you on the selection of the appropriate wedding ceremony – please visit me in my shop in the old town of Zug.
