All these questions we answer here in this blog and give you tips & tricks.
Definition of Wedding Design
Wedding Design is all about creating a visualized and personalized vision for your wedding. This includes colors, patterns, fabrics, flowers, venue, napkins, signage, all this and much more is part of your Wedding Design.
If you want to read more explicitly, you are welcome to continue reading on our blog post “How important is Wedding Design to you?“.
Role of a Wedding Designer
As the title suggests, the Wedding Designer takes care of the appearance and aesthetics of a wedding. Wedding Designers are responsible for:
- Creating a mood board / design
- Floristry / finding florists
- Designing stationery / signage
- Selecting furniture / suppliers
- Customizing table linens / fabrics
- Define lights / candles
- Draw layout / room planning
- Extras (Champagne Tower / Candy Bar / Donut Wall)
The Wedding Planner is more responsible as a consultant and organizer, keeps track of the whole wedding and leads the implementation of your wedding. Wedding Planner and Wedding Designer are in the best case always in close exchange with each other. If it is specifically only about the design, the designer always has the exchange directly with you.
Wedding Design Cost – What is driving these up and where can you save?
Planning your wedding usually starts with defining important elements and constraints. Especially when it comes to finances. The design should definitely be considered in the budget.
For example, see if you can find a venue that you already like quite a bit in terms of space and furnishings, so that extra furniture, table linens, or extra lights don’t have to be ordered. This will certainly make up a very large cost. Also, when designing, try to invest in key elements that are important to you and that your guests will touch or interact with directly, such as the ceremony, table decorations, or escort cards (such as invitations/name cards/ seating chart/schedule of the day).
It is less advisable to invest in decorations that your guests will not use or barely notice. As with anything in planning, some focus is advisable.
Flowers, for us personally, are a very important point in any wedding design. The appropriate floral decoration brings out a lot at a wedding, but also a lot of work time and material behind it. So it is advisable to choose seasonal flowers. Do not choose extra rare or special flowers, which the florist has to organize extra, these are usually more expensive and require more time. It is advisable here to trust the designer and the florist, if you have a favorite flower that is not available exactly on your wedding date, to switch to an alternative.
Do it yourself: Is still in demand and can reduce the design costs a little, but many lack the time or the appropriate ideas for implementation. Therefore, we advise you, if you have someone in the environment, who is e.g. talented or perhaps offers it professionally such as is good at handwriting, this person could design your name cards and the welcome sign as well as the seating plan. It is always important to be aware that you will then hand over this part and we cannot guarantee that it will be in perfect harmony with the rest. Since we recommend you service providers with whom we have already worked and know the work of them and can estimate.
Moodboard and inspirations
Deciding on a theme or a color and style direction can be rather more difficult with today’s inspirations on Instagram, Pinterest and co. Since there is too much choice, and how do I know what fits into our budget and how much decoration it even needs for our location, so that it looks like not too much and not too little. Where do I find all the right service providers? Which service providers will deliver the furniture and who will dismantle the whole thing at the end of the wedding? All these questions, can arise when it comes to design. Questions upon questions, but the most important thing for a good start is that you know what you like and what not. The mood board is then all about showing you what your wedding could look like, capturing the mood/atmosphere you want at your wedding. So that all involved service providers get a feeling for it and it is visually captured.
Wedding Designer a must?
As a future bride and groom, you will be busy with a lot of decisions and errands, especially in the last few months before your wedding. Working with experts like florists, furniture suppliers, cake designers, stationery/writing experts will make your life easier and your wedding more grand. So trust the specialists and after showing them your mood board and discussing important details, let them do their job.
Better yet, hire a wedding designer who will take you from the first meeting to the mood board and all the contact with the service providers that are part of the design. On the day itself we can support you additionally by being present during the set-up, the coordination and in the best case during the dismantling. In this way, you can focus on bigger decisions and yourself. Because you know, in the background everything runs ready for you.
Cheers to your design and your wedding! With much love – your Liebesding-Team
